How to prepare power supply and consumption for customer applications

A device succeeds or fails based on whether it has an efficient power supply. Inefficient consumption means shorter device life and additional operating costs for a device. It’s never as simple as specifying a bigger battery because individual applications and use cases have defined constraints in terms of weight, dimensions and cost which power supply must conform to. At the same time, power supplies have to deal with peaks and troughs in consumption and demand and be able to handle current peaks and noises.

This Quectel Masterclass will reveal the various technologies that are used to manage and optimize power supply including power-off, PSM, sleep/DRX/eDRX, IDLE and RRC connected. The Masterclass will then describe how to properly prepare the power supply for a customer’s application. Key goals are to avoid unnecessary power consumption and use measurement to help optimise. The speakers will provide examples of how to accurately measure current on a Quectel EVB and detail which methods and tools should be used, what additional factors should be taken into consideration and what EVB modifications need to be completed.
